Description

Celestron and ;s SkyMaster Series of large aperture binoculars are a phenomenal value for high performance binoculars ideal for astronomical viewing or for terrestrial (land) use - especially over long distances. Each SkyMaster model features high quality BAK-4 prisms and multi-coated optics for enhanced contrast. Celestron has designed and engineered the larger SkyMaster models to meet the special demands of extended astronomical or terrestrial viewing sessions. The 15x70 version is one of the most popular models in the series. It offers serious large aperture light gathering in an affordable and reasonably lightweight configuration.

Binoculars come in a wide range of shapes and sizes these days, and an even wider range of prices. It's easy to spend less than $100 or more than $500 for what may appear to be, at least outwardly, comparable models. While they may look the same, they are probably quite different on the inside. Recently, the binocular market has seen a flood of giant binoculars at prices that were unheard of just a few years ago. In general, giant binoculars are defined as those that magnify the view 10 times or more and have 70-mm or larger front (objective) lenses. It used to be that the least expensive giant binoculars cost in excess of $150, even $200. All that changed not long ago, when the bottom fell out of the price cellar. Now, several companies import giant binoculars that sell for half that, or less. Celestron's 15x70 SkyMaster binoculars are one of the leaders in the low-price giant binocular arena. They certainly sound good on paper. The SkyMasters include multicoated optics and BaK-4 internal prisms, two features that promise brighter, better images, and key points to look for when judging a pair of binoculars. They also come with an adapter for attaching them to a photo tripod, which is a must to use them to their fullest, and a soft carrying case. But just because they are cheap doesn't always mean they are worth the price. Would it be better to save up for a more expensive pair? To find the answer, I had an opportunity recently to judge the SkyMasters against a pair of Fujinon 16x70 FMT-SX binoculars , one of the finest pairs of giant binoculars sold today. Like the SkyMasters, the Fujinons feature BaK-4 prisms, but also have fully multicoated optics. As a general rule, superior coatings mean superior image sharpness and contrast. But then, that should be expected, given that the Fujinons cost many times more than the Celestrons. While the Fujinons were clearly the better performer, the Celestron SkyMasters held up admirably. Image brightness, quality, and contrast were all remarkable considering their bargain price. Although images were a little soft across the outer 25% of the Celestron's field, the overall view was impressive nonetheless. Some inexpensive binoculars have very sloppy focusing, causing the eyepieces to tilt and shift. Not so with the SkyMasters. I found that their center-focusing mechanism worked smoothly, with no apparently backlash or wobble. Eye relief (the distance you hold your eyes away from the eyepieces to see the full field) is stated to be 18 mm, a good distance for higher power binoculars and an important consideration if you must wear glasses when viewing. The SkyMasters are also light enough to support by hand for short periods of time, although buyers would be well advised to mount them on a sturdy photo tripod. The bottom line is, if you are considering a pair of giant binoculars, whether for bird watching, stargazing, or another recreational use, and have a limited budget, Celestron's giant 15x70 SkyMasters represent an excellent value. --Phil Harrington, author of Star Ware and Star Watch Pros: Exceptional value for the price Light enough to support by hand BaK-4 prisms Multicoated optics Cons: Outer 25% of the field is soft and a little blurry Requires a tripod to use for extended periods

Features

  • Multi-coated optics
  • Large aperture perfect for low light conditions and stargazing
  • Tripod adapter
  • Long eye relief ideal for eyeglass wearers
  • Diopter adjustment for fine focusing

Nice Binoculars, Terrible Tripod Adapter.

by Bruce E Bowman from Clayton, IN USA on 2010-08-20
These binoculars are big, weigh 4 pounds, have lots of magnification and a narrow field of view. They are not something to just carry with you to a football game. They are nice for astronomy, giving good light grasp for very low cost. The main problem is the tripod adaptor, which is plastic and has no lateral bracing.Binoculars with more than 10x magnification cannot be held steady by hand. You must have a tripod and attach them to it. Therefore, the adaptor is CRITICAL, and this one is all but useless. If I so much as touch my nose to the side of one of the eyepieces, these binoculars begin to oscillate from side to side, taking maybe 10 seconds to die out.I'm going to have to find an aftermarket adapter for this product.

EXCELLENT BUY!

by JAMES HAWK from DE on 2010-08-17
For the price, these glasses are fantastic. I think they're easier to hand hold than I thought they'd be at least for an adult. I may even buy the step up; which is the 20 x 80's, although these are really great.

Great Product Value

by D. Sprigg from on 2010-08-14
This is a great product for the price. Very clear viewing. I was a bit concerned about weight. But that really is not much of a problem as it is well balanced.

I think ours was built in a hurry.

by HostileHST from Oregon, USA on 2010-08-11
When we bought these, we had no idea it would take 2 weeks before they would get shipped, once shipped, we got our in just days, BUT, the left lens had dust on the inside barrel and on the inside of the lens (with some smearing taboot). There was some green fringing at all ranges of use and this horrible ability to make us go cross eyed, BUT, for 15x and 70mm lenses, they do quiet well in most lighting situations, after your eyes come to terms with them that is. I personally think the manufacture was in a hurry to build these and skimped on the usual quality control, or, the company is simply going down hill, but I rather give them the benefit of the doubt and we just got a beat up pair.

Great Binos, but they are too much power for casual, hassle-free observing.

by Havlidan from on 2010-08-04
I'll start off with a few words about the optical quality, which in my opinion is very good. You really can't find a better deal on binoculars for this aperture size and magnification. That being said, this is a little bit TOO good of a deal, where the added magnification becomes a problem. These binoculars NEED some sort of sturdy mount. I bought them as an upgrade from naked eye astronomy-I wanted something that would give me views of some of the fainter objects in the sky (messier objects, star clusters, exc) without me needing to make the big purchase of a telescope or any sort of tripod. Unfortunately, these binos just have too much power to be steadily held in the hands. Even when lying on my back I had problems keeping them steady, as every object I observed looked like dancing streaks of light through the binos. It was really quite frustrating. I eventually decided to build a parallelogram binocular mount, which has made my experiences with these binoculars much, much better. The wide view makes star clusters look fantastic, you can see Jupiter and 4 of its moons, as well as faint views of the messier objects. All in all, these are fantastic binoculars IF and ONLY IF you have some way of mounting them. Unfortunately, this defeats a large part of the simplicity of binocular astronomy-the ability to go out on a whim with nothing but the binos and enjoy a night under the stars. The binoculars themselves are of great quality and you can't beat the price-just make sure that you know you will need some sort of binocular mount before you purchase them.

OK Binoculars, Marginal Camera

by CFH from Blue Ridge Summit, PA USA on 2010-08-03
This "Celestron VistaPix 8x32 2.0 Megapixel Binocular / Digital Camera" has decent optics and is actually a fairly nice set of casual or backup set of binoculars for watching wildlife in the backyard or taking on hikes. The integrated 2mp digital camera is functional and easy to use, but with the low image quality it really is only useful as a way to take "memento" pictures of places and things you saw through the binocular (see sample picture in "Customer Images"). Here are my observations:Pros - + Good Optical Quality; the binoculars are clear and crisp + Easy to Use; the LCD menu display is simplistic and easy to navigate + Is A Camera; while not fantastic, it DOES have a built in digital camera + Takes SD Cards; it does have 8mb of internal memory, but it also takes SD cardsCons - - Marginal Image Quality; the 2mp image is only good enough for "reminder" pictures - Poor Low Light Image Quality; the photos get very grainy in lower light situations - Plastic Construction; the body is mostly plastic, giving me concerns about the long term durability of the battery compartment doorMisc - * Comes with a Neck Strap (attached), Software CD (which I didn't need to install), USB Cable (which I didn't use since it takes SD cards), and a protective sleeve * Takes 2xAAA batteries, not included * "Hi-Res" pictures are approx 400kb - 500kb in file size (I haven't even tried the "Low-Res" mode)It should be mentioned that the list price for these is way too much, but they do go on "deep discount" Gold Box sales occasionally (where I got mine).Recommended, with the above caveats.CFH

worth what I paid!

by Keith Packett from marion nc on 2008-02-27
I found these to be well worth the $34.00 that I paid for them from Beach camera, but I would have been very disapointed if I had paid $89.95 like some of the other sites are asking!

Good for long distance sports

by R. Evans from on 2007-05-20
I found this Item to be good for Horse races , Baseball games , and things that are a good distance from you but the action will all happen in frame. There is a delay in pushing the button and taking the picture that you have to get used to. timing it , but you can really get some good shots once you get a custome to it. To hope for the best timing on short actions , like a pitch the multi frame function works best. If you are within 100 ft. of were the action is use a digital camera.

Wow!

by S. DiCastro from Princeton, MA USA on 2010-05-22
I bought these binoculars on the recommendation of a well-respected book. Wow!I had originally made the mistake of looking at the half-moon through a screen: Lots of distortion, flare, etc. It finally occurred to me that the screens were likely the problem, so I went outside, and...BAM! Amazing. All problems resolved. Super-clarity, no distortion, etc.I'm impressed with the performance, especially considering the low cost. These two 80mm objectives have very nearly the light-gathering capacity of a 114mm telescope (I did the math). They are heavy, of course, and so a tripod is a necessity. But all in all, a very good deal for the money.

Awesome value

by R. Dunn from Montana on 2010-04-26
I bought these binoculars to view the wildlife in Yellowstone. I was amazed at the quality and crisp image quality. I highly recommend these binoculars.

Wonderful Binocs

by Shmuel Goldstein from Revava, D.N. Lev HaShomron Israel on 2010-02-15
These puppies are big. The main objective lenses, that is. What can I say, but that I *like* this binoc. Although they are big, they are not as heavy as I expected them to be. I *can* hand-hold them for general viewing, if I don't need to read stuff in the viewfinder. But you should use these with a tripod to get the most out of them. On a good tripod (I used the Slik U212 Deluxe, which is fine for these), I can read a license plate half a mile away. Don't forget the twilight capabilities the large objectives give.In short, if you want a gift that is really good, and won't break the bank, get this.

More than worth the money. Easier to hold steady than I thought they would be. Yet they are larger than I thought they would be. They are HUGE. Great glass, very clear.

Great Binoculars

This is a gret product, I just recomend a heavy tripod, it is because the binos are heavy to hold after a few minutes. The optical are very good, I was looking Jupiter and the 4 moons, It was very good choice.

Celestron Oceana

by D from on 2010-07-06
I really wanted to give these binoculars a good review being that they are from an American company right near my home but sadly I cannot. The first pair I purchased were defective when the illuminator button fell out when I opened them to first examine them. The second pair I recieved were also defective because the Illuminator did not work at all and there was a black splotch in the viewing area that was internal and could not be cleaned by me. I give up. I will save my money and buy some Steiner's now.

Excellent quality

by J. Fanshaw from Idaho on 2010-05-06
Never in my life have I looked through such crystal clear binoculars that focus so precisely on objects right in front of your face or across the valley. I have yet to figure out how to properly use the range/size finder, but that's just a matter of sitting down and reading up on it. Like some of the other reviews said, the built-in compass is a tad funky, but not enough to lessen my opinion of them!

Celestron Oceana 7x50

by Ralph from UTARD on 2010-02-25
Received these yesterday, as I have only had a slight chance to test them out I can only give first impressions. Optical quality, very, very good, not perfect but very good especially for the price. (5 of 5 stars at this price point) Build Quality, Fantastic, they feel very sturdy, they are covered by a rubber armor and they are completely waterproof. (5 of 5 stars) Comfort, pretty good, a bit stiff but I expect them to loosen up over a period of use. (4 of 5 stars) Instruction manual, with these Binoculars, there is some math involved to get the size or the distance to an object. While the instructions were adequate, they were lacking a bit. (4 of 5 stars) Accessories (lens caps, binocular bag), This is a double edged sword, the bag is great I expected to get a very cheap case, what it came in is a well padded rigid soft case that well exceeds my expectations. The lens caps...not so much, the front caps are great, they are connected to the the body so you won't loose them. The rear cap is almost worthless. It is a single cap designed to go over both but can't be fitted securely. (4 of 5 stars because of the rear cap) Compass, Unfamiliar with nautical compasses I was a sort of surprised not to see a N or an S or an E or a W. But after 5 seconds I was able to deal with degrees... The illumination was great and its easy to read. This is a great way to know exactly where you're looking at any time. The compass, integrated with the rangefinder is a huge plus to me. (5 of 5 stars)I really like these binoculars, I am hoping they live up to my expectations in long term use. I'm taking them out this weekend to test out a bit more and see if the rangefinder is true in its readings and see if the optics are as good as I think they are.

Expectations not met

by J. Brown from marin on 2009-10-28
I just received this Celestron Oceana binoculars and I had very high hopes based some of the great reviews here. I find I have a several issues with the alignment of various components. When I get the binoculars focused and the two circular views merged into one view I find it is distracting that the vertical reticle is not plumb (at 90 degrees to the horizon) but angled 10-15 degrees from plumb. I can make it plumb by widening (separating) the views . but I'd like it to be plumb at my optimized view.To read the compass clearly I have to pull back from the binocular and lower them to look down at compass reading. I can't be viewing through the binoculars and see the reading at the same time. But that's the whole point of buying these. This alignment should be better.I have been focusing these binoculars on distant rooftops in the neighborhood. There are these galvanized chimney vents on the roofs. In the bright sun, when I see these shiny roof vents, I see 2 levels of ghost images as well. This seems wrong.Perhaps my expectations are off or maybe this particular item is a lemon, but I was hoping for more. I think I will have to return these.

Great Value

by Henz73 from Wilmington, DE on 2008-12-10
These binoculars offer a great combination of features for the price. The built-in compass is a very valuable on the water, and the backlighting works very nicely in the dark. Eyepiece adjustments worked very well for me and produced crisp viewing. The rangefinder scale is easy to use and may come in handy.

So-So If You Don't Expect Much

by DHB from usa on 2009-12-24
I bought these on a lark, because of the price. For a lark, I guess they are worth the $27. But the "exit pupil" is too short so that they are useless with glasses and the field of view is small even without then. (I am near sighted, this might be different for people with normal or far-sighted vision.)But the focus travel is long enough that I can focus them without my glasses and the image is reasonable clear. Binoculars with this amount of magnification ought to have a place to attach to a tripod. The case and strap seem OK, but I haven't used them.In short, these binoculars are minimally useful but only just so. They seemed to be designed for sale and not for real use. Celestron really shouldn't market items of this quality (nor should anybody else for that matter). All in all, it is better to either pay more for reasonable good quality or do without than to buy something of barely acceptable quality.

Nice!

I've never owned a pair of binoculars before, so I'm no expert. But as far as I can tell, these are great! If higher end kinds are optically better, I doubt I'd be able to tell the difference!

Eye piece problem

by A. Hamedani from on 2010-08-12
I was initially happy with these binoculars. However, after a short, easy hike in the woods, I took the binoculars out of my pack, opened the case and noticed that the diopter (I think that's the correct term; in other words, the Right eye piece, with the one-side focus adjustment) was not attached to the body of the binoculars. I assumed that someone in my household had unscrewed it and didn't put it back on. So, I put it back on and the binoculars worked fine. After a bit more walking, I again took the binoculars out of my pack, took them out of the case, and again the right eyepiece was detached from the binoculars. After screwing it back on, I very gently, with mild pressure, tugged the eye piece, and it popped right off. The threads for screwing it on/off were in good shape, but the entire eye piece would pop on and off quite easily. It simply felt cheap, and made me question how actually waterproof these are. I returned these recently. I'm not sure if I received a defective pair, or if there's a design flaw with the Outland.

The Kayakers' Friend

by Giordano Bruno from Wherever I am, I am. on 2009-09-13
These are the binoculars I carry when I kayak, canoe, or raft. They've been in and under water in the far North Pacific, the Atlantic, the fjords of Southern Chile, Lakes Superior, Ontario, Kabetogama, Yellowstone, and a lot of smaller ones, as well as deep under the Green River and the Colorado River. They're still completely functional. Good optics, good feel in the hand. If you have any interest in bird-watching from a boat, these are what you need. And the price is decent. One word of advice, based on experience; stick to Nikon, Canon, and Celestron, and avoid Bushnell like the plague.

Great, powerfull and compact binoculars for a nice price

I bough these to replace my older Meade and Exakta binoculars which require collimation now (image from 2 lenses don't overlap anymore so all objects appear double). Celestron Outland provides great images during day observations (landscape, birds) and when looking at night sky (nice view of moon, can see more stars and some nebulas).Pros: - impressive optics with great clarity - compact size for its 10x42 magnification and field of view - long eye relief, good field of view (315 ft at 1000 yds) - adjustable 2.25"-3.0" distance between eyes, suitable for many face sizes - eye caps are attached via straps and don't get loose - focusing wheel adjusts focus at must faster rate than on other binoculars, so only slight turn in wheel is usually enough to set focus and fine adjustment takes just couple seconds - I've seen these binoculars in a local store where they underwent months/years of wear-n-tear and abuse by testers and they still have nice overall look and lenses still stay aligned so images for both eyes overlap fine for nice 3D picture.Other: - 2 sets of straps - one for carrying case and one for binoculars - small microfiber cleaning cloth included (removes dust and fingerprint smudged) - soft neoprene carrying case is think but it's just a soft case so I'd not drop binoculars to the bottom of 10+ lbs backpack along with other stuff.

Excellent scope, especially for the price

by Felicia from Amesbury, MA on 2010-08-06
We have used this scope so far to spy on birds, and to take looks at the moon. It feels very sturdy without being too heavy to carry on a trail to a bird blind. The images are very crisp, clear and bright especially if you are not zoomed in all the way. Once you start to zoom, it does get a little less crisp, but nonetheless, it still is a very clear image of whatever critter you are trying to watch. I would buy one of these again. I would have expected that I would have to pay a lot more money for something of this quality.

An wonderful scope

by BB from Texas on 2010-01-14
This scope has really impressed me. It's a step up from the Wal-Mart optics that I had. Not a high end $4,000 scope but this does what I need. Stands out at my range and gets the "WOW" effect. Not a scope I would take back packing though, rather heavy and bulky.

Best bang for the buck

by Philip Washington from Abilene, Texas USA on 2009-12-10
I use this as a spotting scope for target shooting. So far everything I've looked at and worked with gets dicey at about 500 yds. It just depends on the conditions. But a rule of thumb is if the sun is out and you aren't being barraged with thermals you should be able to see at minimal 500 yds. So far I have not been disappointed in what I got for the price. When there are no thermals and good light, I can see very well at 500yds.I also like it's field of view. I was actually watching 4 targets the last time out without moving the scope. These are 12" x 12 " targets.I have a Schmidt and Bender 56mm scope and it's brightness and optics are actually better, but we are comparing a $2000 + set of optics to a < $500 set of optics. I also have a NightForce 56mm scope and I would compare it's brightness as a little better.I have had quite a number of people use my scope for spotting and they are really amazed at it's performance vs cost. So I would say that if these guys would put in a MOA or mildot reticle, they could sell quite a few more to people who are in the sport of long distance shooting. At 600 yds on a good day like the last, I think this would have been fine. But no matter what scope you get, there are going to be some days you just have to walk up.The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that it doesn't have a hash reticle option, and the optics are really not the best. But I think price vs performance this is a keeper. So far I haven't run into anyone who could see something I couldn't.

celestron’s SkyMaster Series of large aperture binoculars are a phenomenal value for high performance binoculars. Ideal for astronomical viewing or for terrestrial (land) use, especially over long distances. SkyMaster models feature high quality BAK-4 prisms and multi-coated optics for enhanced contrast. celestron has designed and engineered the larger SkyMaster models to meet the special demands of extended astronomical or terrestrial viewing sessions.

Ultima DX binoculars provide superb image quality with BAK-4 prisms, fully multi-coated optics, diopter adjustment for sharp focusing, and they are super lightweight for their aperture size. With long eye relief for comfortable viewing and an excellent depth of field that provides a good overview without the need for constant refocusing, all Ultima DX models are excellent for all kinds of long distance viewing. And with large fields of vision, these binoculars are well-suited for astronomical and other low-light observation. It's simply hard to imagine a set of binoculars with these many outstanding features in such a durable yet lightweight design. The Celestron 72022 features an 8x magnification and an objective lens diameter of 56 millimeters, giving it a 7-millimeter exit pupil. (The exit pupil size -- the diameter of the objective lens divided by the magnification -- determines the amount of light available to your eye. The larger the exit pupil, the brighter the image obtained will be. A three-millimeter exit pupil is generally sufficient for daytime use, five-millimeters is suitable for daytime and twilight, and seven-millimeters is generally necessary for maximum nighttime or astronomy use.) Celestron makes great binoculars, period

by Edward Caccia from Ardsley, NY on 2009-01-30
I really have to take issue with the reviewer who claimed that all Celestron products are crap. That is a blanket statement that just doesn't hold water. No doubt he had a bad experience and is unhappy, but as a life-long binos lover and owner of 3 different pairs of Celestron binos, I could not disagree more!I know my binos and wouldn't spend money on a bad maker 3 separate times. I also own other brands including Pentax, Nikon, Leupold and Olympus. My Celestrons are the equal of any of them. I'm not interested in Swarovski's and Leica's at all; it totally offends my sensibilities to think of blowing a grand or 2 on a pair of binos... It's nothing short of silly for most people to do so, especially in light of the terrific performance and value these "next tier down" brands deliver! Times are tough: be smart and save your money.Roof prism binos are my favorite. I own the 10x28 Celestron Noble, which is quite likely the best compact 10x bino for the money. Just OUTSTANDING quality, performance, and value there. I also own the 8x42 Regal LS. Same as the Noble, only better! The Regal is amazingingly clear and beautifully made, great quality thoughout. Overall, it is easily the equal of many binos costing much more. Every bit as good as my Leupold Pinnacles, and those are saaa-weeet! The last of my Celestron's is this Skymaster model, which is just a blow-away for observing the night sky. Or most anything else! Good astonomical binos are a pleasure and so easy to break out and use vs. a big old telescope. The 8 x 56mm size means you get get a HUGE 7mm Exit Pupil (objective lens divided by magnification power = Exit Pupil). A huge exit pupil is just what the doctor ordered for great night viewing; along with the very good BAK-4 prisms and full multi-coatings, this allows the available light to pour into your eyes. Light is transmitted most efficiently to the eye and reveals even the dimmest areas of the sky most impressively.Realize that any bino above 8 or 10x magnification is very hard to steady without a tripod. I use one all the time because I like to take my time, and holding full sized binos up by hand gets old pretty quick... But at 8x magnification, you get great results without a tripod, too.Bottom line, these are very good to excellent binos from a maker I know, trust, and respect.

Great first binocular

by M. Villarrubia from Louisiana, USA on 2008-09-06
I bought this product for my husband for star-gazing. It is great for a neophyte astronomer. Well made, good instructions and not too heavy. It is also tripod adaptable, which was important to me when I selected it. I did well! Any movement is significant when dealing with such distances. So, after trying it out, we did immediately buy a celestron tripod and the attachment for a binocular, and now my husband is extremely happy.

Avoid all Celestron products

by Ken Bates from Boston on 2008-08-09
Several years ago I purchased a 5 inch Celestron telecope that was OK and I also purchased expensive 7x50 binoculars that were defective from day one. They would not focus as advertised. (

Best value............

by E. Phillips from on 2007-07-31
I have used these binoculars for nearly two months now, under varying conditions. Mostly for astronomy. I have found them exceptional in clarity, with no distortions or abherrations that I could detect. I have also been using these aboard a boat for searching channel markers and lights...they are absolutely unexcelled used in that function.Although not petite, they are very comfortable and easily held for extended periods , even for my wife who is no weight-lifter.Dollar for dollar I rank these equal to some binoculars I have used that cost twice as much. The case and strap are cheap crap, but that is small payment for the excellence of the instrument itself.

great value

by Braintree fan from on 2010-08-05
These budget priced binoculars are great for the money. As with all zoom optics you can't expect the same quality vision compared to fixed lens models. I reckon the optical quality at base 10x is excellent all the same and is quite good up to about 18x, but tails off up to max magnification of 30x. We already have a pair of Bushnell powerview 16x which my wife uses and I was quite surprised to find the Celestrons to be so close in optical quality.OK the downsides, not many but purple fringing (chromatic aberation) can be quite noticeable when viewing contrasty images. The plastic case is dead cheap and the lanyard is lirttle more than a shoelace. What can you expect for bucks? It's a steal.

Non-working item shipped to me.

by Michael Viquez from on 2010-08-04
Item was defective, right side does not focus, original box and everything looks fine but right side does not work, even looking only thru the well working side (left) it has a very poor quality image, using the zoom in full (30x) image loos like when viewing thru the bottom of a glass bottle. This binoculars are a good option to waste your money. The wrost binoculars I have ever try.

Good Start Up Binoculars

by J. Moon from San Antonio, Texas on 2010-05-20
I purchased these from Amazon directly, and had to send the first pair back for a replacement pair. Great job AMAZON!!! I got my replacements before I even returned the first pair, without a double charge to my credit card, and all done "on line" with a free shipping label sent to me via email. The first pair had what looked like a string hanging down in the "right ocular". The main problem with these binoculars is that they have to be constantly re-focused when transitioning from one power to the next. I also own a pair of Nikon 10-22x50 variable binoculars. You don't have to do that with the Nikon's. These are good as back ups to keep in the truck, for general use spotting game, but I would never take/rely on them as my only set of binoculars for glassing for game on a serious/expensive hunt in the back woods. Also, the carrying case is kind of "cheesy" made of some kind of synthetic "fabric/canvas". These remind me of the first set of binoculars my Dad bought me for a Christmas Stocking Stuffer one year. They would make a nice set of "beginner binoculars" for a younger person...but they are just not up to professional standards for use by a serious minded sportsman. None the less, for $39 plus free shipping from Amazon you can't go wrong, but if I only had the money to spend on one pair of binoculars, I would save it and buy the Nikon brand.

Made in China and just what you would expect as far as optical quality. Waste of $40.
