Vivitar Binocular camera

by Brigitte Mcclellan from USA on 2009-12-28
The binoculars & camera work great, the software to transfer photos to my computer does not work. It would be a better product if the camera had a memory chip. The chip would work just like any camera chip to download. I already had Arcsoft Photo 5.0 on my computer, downloaded the CD w/ the 4.0 version as well & still could not transfer photos as it would not recognize the camera & download.

Waste of Money!!

by V. Gaunt from Orange Co., NY on 2009-03-24
I bought this on sale at CVS thinking it would be fun for taking nature photos, but it is a total piece of garbage. Aside from the fact that all the photos get erased every time you replace the batteries, the pics come out blurry and distorted. Don't waste your time or money!

This is an absolute garbage.

by Tatsiana Lukashevich from HI,usa on 2009-01-23
My husband has got this piece of garbage for 25$ on sale.I wasn't too excited even just looking at it first, but decided to try.Well the LCD display is not useful. You need to remember all the options or take the manual with U all the time.Second: U can't really hear when the camera is actually shooting.Well,I've tried all the options that the manual gives u.And I was still hoping, maybe the pics will be ok...Fool I am ).They were not even close to the word "OK".Even with the camera absolutely still(I put it down on the surface) the pics were blurry. Not even talking about holding it in your hands.I thought maybe I'll leave it to use just as a binocular, but no,I can get something better for this price.Because the camera part makes this small binocular heavy. So I'm returning it after one day of use.My advise: DO NOT BUY IT.

How incredible that such a poor product make it into a Vivitar Box. Shame on you!

A no-star product, made to give it one star by computer

by B. Delamar from Sacramento, CA on 2010-04-23
This item is worthless. I have learned to read product reviews before buying, but on this one, I must have had a relapse. I cannot even use the product because the batteries are drained before I can even get around to trying it out. The batteries that came with the product were dead on arrival. I replaced with new ones, and turned on the camera. About a week later, with the camera off to save battery life, the batteries had been drained and were deat. So I have not even had a chance to try out the camera. But after reading all of these reveiews about it, there probably is no reason to.

Vivitar Digital 10 x 25 camera binoculars

by last hour from Arkansas on 2010-02-12
This product was quite a bit smaller than I thought it would be. The particular used binoculars that I purchased was not sent with the cable for hooking it up to the computer to see the images, so I never actually got to use it (I returned it for a refund). But what was also disappointing to me was that fact that you can't review your pictures until you are hooked up to a computer, so I'm not sure about the quality of the pictures since I was never able to get that far. Hope this helps!

Pure unadulterated crap

by Gary L. Ellenbolt from South Dakota, USA on 2009-09-02
Very poor design on this unit, though the binoculars will do in a pinch if it's a heck of a pinch. Photos look like their coming from the Moon--or for all anyone knows, your photo may BE the Moon. This was me ordering first, checking reviews later. That smoke you smell is me having been burned. Shame on you, Vivitar--your better than this thing. Won't get fooled again!

Horrible product

by Matt V. Varno from on 2009-05-16
Terriable. Pictures come in blurry and in Black and white. Funny on the box their clear and pristine, laughable total scam. Don't waste your time buying this you will end up returning next day.

Not worth $15

by John William Craft from Miami, FL on 2009-11-14
I bought this a few months ago. When taking a picture the pic comes out blurry. The binos are bad so is the camera. Not worth the money at all.

WORKS AS ADVERTISED

by S. Gecewicz from on 2007-04-24
I bought the Vivitar MagnaCam 1025x1 as a "refurb". I took it along on a roadtrip through the Salmon and Snake River country in Idaho last summer. Found the binoculars to be quite useful and netted around 50 photos that turned out to be real keepers. I was particularly pleased with some of the details the Vivitar Magnacam picked up on tall rock formations. My other digital camera just didn't have the lens. This camera is not for the family picnic or class reunion, but I could see a hunter, hiker, skiier or pilot finding lots of uses for the product.

Viewmasters are nicer

by from on 2004-07-02
A large group of my co-workers and I each recieved this product as a gift (about 300 of us). Regardless of our individual gratitude levels, not one of us has had a single nice thing to say about the product. First and foremost it is a horrible binocular as well as a horrible digital camera. Secondly, many of us (not all) can't get the eyepieces close enough together to be able to see in stereo. Thirdly, the battery pack hits you in the nose when you put it up to your face making it impossible to get the unit close enough to your eyes to be able to look through the lenses. It's lightweight and cheap feeling. Not one of us has taken a single photo with it that has come out anything but terribly blurry. I wouldn't spend $1 for the product and would return it for a full refund if I had in fact purchased it myself. I'll be passing mine off as a gag gift at my next "white elephant" party. I pity the recipient.

A Good Buy

by from Maryland, USA on 2004-06-03
This camera is excellent for tourists. Not good for taking close up family photos, unless you want them to pose at the end of the road :). When the battery is finished all the images that is stored in the Camera goes, so beware.

This is freakin crap!!!

by Sean D. Adriano from Milpitas, CA USA on 2009-01-25
This freakin crap was a waste of 80 bucks!!! DON'T FREAKIN GET THIS CAMRA THERE ARE BETTER ONES THAT ARE CHEAPER THAN THIS!!! 7mp my but!!!! The camara is just as good as my phone camara. The video really sucks cause there is some sort of yellowish bar that takes up a quarter of my videos for some freakin reason. After about a week of using it, the freakin thing broke. It wasn't show pictures or anything. I kept trying to turn it on but all it showed was the static thing just like how a TV is on an off-air channel. I even called the manufacturer and they told me they will call me back...WHAT THE HECK??? They will never call me back. It's been 2 years...VIVITAR IS A COMPANY THAT HAS BEEN CLOSED DOWN SEVERAL TIMES OR SOMETHING!!! DO NOT TRUST VIVITAR!!! I am going to do everything I can to show people that VIVITAR is no good. It's a great concept, but it isn't ergonomic, it's so flimsy, the camara isn't all that great, the buttons suck, it's slow...JUST DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT BUYING IT. If you guys don't trust me you can even email me or aim me to ask about it, I'll try to post it on youtube to show you guys... [...]

Not so great

by Timothy R. Sullivan from Beaver, WV on 2008-12-27
The video this shoots is of fair quality, however the photos leave something to be desired. Every picture I take is hazy and the colors muted. My cheap digital camera takes better pictures than this one and it was half the cost.

Don't waste your time

by Jeffrey Pincin from pa, usa on 2008-07-18
It starts out seeming like a great camera for a great price. But for whatever reason the video format that it uses doesn't always work when you're trying to play it on the computer (and maybe even elsewhere). The photos seem fine at first but you end up wanting more in the end. You'll never want to use the mp3 player after trying it once.Don't even bother with this camera. I'm sure you can either get a better one for the same price or pay a little bit extra and have some peace of mind. It will seem like it's great at first but you will be more than disappointed after some time.

Great product & price!

by M. Hahn from San Francisco Bay Area, CA on 2008-05-21
I've only had this camera for about a week, and I think it's a great little camera. Compact yet clear video. I haven't used all its functions yet, but I mostly bought it for the video feature to capture the little moments of my children's lives. There is a lag when taking photos. It doesn't do well with fast moving kids. They need to be perfectly still for a few seconds and you need to have a very steady hand to take the photo.I do like the image stabilization feature, but the downside to that is you can't use zoom in that mode. Bummer. **EDIT** I must have done something wrong when I first tried it, but the zoom does work with the image stabilization on.Also, I noticed that the battery got really warm after about 15 minutes of continuous use. I don't know if that's normal, but I'll see how that goes when I take a continuous video for over an hour. I bought a 4GB SD memory card to record more than the internal memory allows.Overall, it's a great product for the price I paid. So compact and easy to take with you anywhere.
