Not Terribly Impressed.

by G. Hubley from Western Massachusetts on 2010-09-01
I got this camera about a year ago, and I was excited, because my mom had told me that she'd ordered me a purple camera. Please. this isn't purple. But I'm not gonna moan about the color. I've never liked the quality of the pictures it takes. they're just not good compared to some other cameras you could get. Also, if a room is at all dark and you're trying to take pictures you can't. it tells you it's underexposed. but if you put on the flash, the picture if either overexposed or just fake looking. I admit that i like to take quality pictures, and this is definitely not the camera for it. for just taking pictures of friends, sure, it'll pass. as long as you don't want action picture. this camera can not handle that. so, yeah. i'm not terribly impressed with this camera, and i'm looking for a better one. don't waste your money if you're expecting good pictures from this camera. you won't get them.

Casio Does Not Stand Behind Warranty

by Big Mick from North Dakota, USA on 2010-08-24
Please note that this review is about the product, not about Amazon's service. As usual, their service was great. I bought this camera for my daughter. She used it about one month and then the flash unit quit working. I sent it to Casio for warranty repair, and their response is that they'll repair it for $69 plus $10 to ship it back to us. That's about the same amount as the original purchase price. I won't be buying a Casio camera of any kind again.

My Casio

by Jaiwillde from on 2010-08-24
This is actually my first digital camera and it is just perfect for me! It doesn't have a lot of difficult buttons to figure out which is great if you like things to be simple. The pictures turn out clear and full of color. I am really enjoying my casio!

Great little camera

by D. Flanders from San Diego, CA on 2010-08-09
I had a fairly expensive Pentax digital camera that had so many bells and whistles on it that I had no idea how to use, and I usually ended up screwing it up. It was an OK camera but a waste on a point-and-shooter like me. So my friend had this camera and I was very impressed by the pictures it took. I looked around, and Amazon had the best price I could find for it. Well, out of the box I was taking pictures with it, did a couple little videos, this a much easier camera to use. I like the size too, it's small and light.Bonus: It's FUSCIA (not purple) so my husband won't want to borrow it. I'm giving him the Pentax.

Battery for Casio Camera

I needed a replacement for my Casio Camera Battery and could not find a local source. Amazon was amazing in the manner and timeliness of which I received a new battery. It plugged in and WORKED! Thanks.

Disappointing and Expensive.... since you have to keep buying them.

by C. Barry from New Jersey on 2010-06-09
I got my camera in October of 2008. Less than a year later (prior to June 2009... I would say closer to March), the battery discontinued to work. My camera refused to turn on, despite the battery having been recently charged, and when I put the battery in the charger, the red light flashed on and off rather than charging. Basically, what happened to me is what seems to have happened to many other people rating this item. However, many people are saying it's annoying, but an easy fix. Well, perhaps. But I don't know how to "jump start" the battery and, while I'm sure that's effective and helps a lot of people, if you don't know how to do it, you're still stuck with a dead battery. I bought my second battery in June of 2009 (around mid June) for 50 dollars. I know, I know, but I was desperate and needed it immediately; I couldn't wait to have it shipped as I was leaving on a trip. So, here I am less than a year later, with another dead NP-20 battery. I am tired of buying these things only to have them fail less than a year later. It would be one thing if I just ended up with a bad one and the next one I buy will be fine. That happens, what can you do. But it sounds like these batteries are largely of poor quality and need to be replaced or jump started on a regular basis. I'd rather just get a different camera and not have to worry about whether this is the time I'll turn my camera on only to find out the battery died and miss another great photo opportunity just because some company is alright with selling people products of low quality. I actually really like the camera. I had the same one, but an earlier model, two years before I got the one I have now. That was an absolutely fantastic camera and I was heartbroken when it broke (most likely my fault... now I always keep it in it's case when I'm not using it). It's not the camera that I have a problem with, but the disappointing and unpredictable battery. So I think I'll just get a new camera this time and it will not be a Casio.

Bad Battery

by B. Akron from ny on 2010-05-20
I received this camera as a gift from my niece. The battery went dead and will not charge. The charger blinks on and off indicating this. Apparently, there is a "flaw" in the battery. My niece owns the same camera, called the company and was sent a new battery - no charge. Her friend also had the same issue with her battery. I am now having the same problem. Casio, do you THINK MAYBE there is a problem with these batteries??? I emailed Casio tonite and will keep emailing them until I receive an answer. I am looking at getting a free replacement, otherwise, I am switching to another company. Lots of choices out there.

Item Recieved not as pictured

by L.M. Lewis from USA on 2010-05-04
Unfortunately, I cannot rate the performance of this item, the Casio NP-20 Lithium Ion rechargeble battery, because that is not what I got. I specifically paid more to get the name brand and was sent a generic battery. I will give the vendor points for responding quickly when I complained and refunding my money. They did not even require me to return the item. So what does that say for its value. However, weeks later, I still do not have a dependable name brand product. So I will start again, but not with this vendor. L.M. Lewis

Casio NP-20 is not OEM

by D. Robinson from Palm City, FL United States on 2010-04-26
The picture that represented this product is incorrect! I paid more than I should have because I thought I was getting an original equipment battery. What I received was a generic battery that I could have purchased for half the price. BUYER BEWARE!

Save your money!

by Josh from on 2010-09-03
Hey all. I had originally bought this camera back in 2007 when it had first been released. Recently I traveled to Las Vegas and lost my beautiful Casio camera. So because I loved it so much, I bought this camera, still believing it was the same camera... But it's not! The camera is so slow and takes forever to do anything! Sure it is sleek and cool, but for the price you pay, you'd be better off getting a different camera for a much better value. DON'T BUY ME!

Best camera under $200

by Mr. Natural from Illinois on 2010-08-14
I got a Z2000 six weeks ago and have already filled 10GB of memory with the highest res shots and HD video. I used it on a 3-wk vacation in the Tetons, Yellowstone, and Cody, WY. It was always around my neck as I drove, hiked, and biked, and it proved as tough as it's predecessor (I've used a Casio S600 for over five years, mostly on mountain biking trips in the Alps, taking thousands of shots and videos with it, and, though it looks like it's been in a war, it still works like new!).This camera is almost as small and light as the S600, and just as easy to use even though it has a good number of new features. The wide angle lens (26mm), the 5x optical zoom, and the HD video were the main reasons I bought it. The fotos and videos are great, but you use up memory in a hurry at 14mp and with HD video, so you'll need 4gb or 8gb SD cards (at least two), preferably class 4 or 6 SDHC type for speed. Unless you need poster sized prints, you can set the resolution to 6mb or so, which is fine for 8x10 prints, and you'll get way more shots per SD card. One new feature I really loved is the "oil painting" setting. This lets you take a shot looking (a bit) like Van Gogh may have painted it. The watercolor and crayon settings are worthless, though. I hope Casio fixes these and provides a download for them soon.I went back and forth between the Z2000 and the new Casio H15, and chose the Z2000 for the smaller size and lighter weight since it hangs around my neck. My companion on the trip had just bought the H15, and it was a surprise to both of us. It has a wider lens (24mm), a 10x optical zoom, and even more features. It also has the "oil painting" mode. We were both amazed at the quality of his photos. On top of that, the H15 LCD screen is TWICE the resolution of the Z2000's (both are 3" in size), and it's SUPERB. And his flash had an incredible range. And his battery lasts twice as long (though the Z2000 is no slouch). So now I wish I'd bought the H15. It is about $85 more than the Z2000, so I'd say that if size or cost (or color) is an issue, get the Z2000. You'll love it. Otherwise, go for the H15 and be blown away by what you can do with it. And don't forget the neck cord. I've never dropped a camera (or cell phone or monocular) since I've been using these cords (for over 15 years of mountain biking). Here's a good cord on Amazon: Targus Digital TGK-NS Digital Camera Neck Strap.

Fantastic Digital Camera

I bought this 14 megapixel point and shoot digital camera about a month ago and have been playing with it since then. It is the fifth Casio I have owned (upgraded with each new generation) and have always been thrilled with the results. This camera is no different. Full of nice features it's easy to use and the images are stunning. I would highly recommend this camera.

Slim & Sleek!

When this camera was 1st unveiled in November of 2009 I knew I had to have it but money wise it wasn't feasible at the time. Well, here I was & found it for ridiculous low price of $169 sans memory card which I found for only $28, it was a 16 GB.The picture & video quality are excellent. I don't know much about cameras but I figure this has to hold true for all cameras over 12 MP's.I had an old Casio 6 MP & that camera took a beating but kept snapping quality pictures on all my travels. This camera is it's replacement & I know it will surpass my old Casio due to it being shockproof, freezeproof, waterproof & dustproof. I already took some great pix surfing w/it,something I couldn't do w/my old one. I know this season for snowboarding the camera will get dropped, beat up but will still deliver cause it's a Casio. The one thing I really like about this camera as w/most Casio's is it's thinness. Many cameras are bricks & don't fit comfortably in your front or back pocket. This camera fits nicely in my jeans when rocking in Vegas.Last but not least, this model was voted TOP Camera for shockproof, waterproof camera's this year so that must say a little about it. I recommend the extended 3 year warranty plus Accident Protection from Squaretrade. I'm lucky that the only authorized Casio Repair shop is a few miles away but those who aren't so lucky may want to throw down $34 for piece of mind & protection.

I bought this because I wanted a slim camera that I could toss around. The picture quality is descent, not great. It is really slow, I missed a few good shots while it was warming up or focusing. BUT the clincher is I never dropped it, but have tossed it around and the buttons popped off. I sent it in for a warranty repair and got the run around and they want to charge me over $50 to fix this. Their customer service is horrendous. Great idea, poor produc, lousy company. I would never buy another Casio product

Good choice for macro nature photos and video

by Lonny D. Stark from on 2010-08-29
I chose this camera primarily for a combination of slow-motion video, HD video, and acceptable photo quality. It's a good choice if that combination of features meets your requirements, but if you're mostly interested in taking really great photos, look at other cameras. In my experience, Canon point-and-shoot cameras produce better photos and they're generally less expensive.About the Casio photo quality... I've posted three nature close-ups to show that this camera is capable of reasonably nice macro shots. The trick in shooting tight close-ups with this camera is to move back from the subject and zoom all the way in on it (camera set to "macro" focus). You can get a larger subject that way, essentially seeming to be closer to your subject. This technique tends to create a nice "bokeh" or background blur, while the subject is well-focused. The camera usually takes an attractive photo, although it also produces a large share of duds. It does a fair job of autofocusing, although sometimes it hunts or focuses on the background even when the center spot is clearly aimed at the foreground subject. To be sure that you have a good shot, take lots and lots of pictures -- this is the digital age, you don't have to pay for film and processing just to see whether a picture is any good, so why not fill up your camera card? Delete the duds and extras later.Unless you have a full minute or two between shots, you need to set it to take JPEGs, and even then it isn't very fast at saving the highest quality shots. And when it comes to saving RAW photos, this is one of the slowest cameras I've ever worked with. Much as I prefer RAW, on on the Casio EX-FH100 it's way too slow for nature photography, where a few seconds delay is enough for your subject to walk, fly, or swim away. The camera's JPEG photos, when greatly enlarged, show an odd splotchy characteristic that reminds me of the paint effects filters you find in image software such as Photoshop. This means that cropping and enlarging is iffy. Might look good, might not. I'm Photoshop fanatic, and I have over a decade of experience at photo editing, so I don't have a lot of trouble fixing some of the quirkier JPEG artifacts produced by this or other cameras. Most people aren't inclined to play with photo editors, however. Fortunately, this camera's pictures start out fairly big, and most people don't require giant poster-sized copies of all their photos. For snapshots and pictures up to 11-inches, it's not too bad, and every now and then it produces a great photo worthy of poster size. With its good-to-great but sometimes bad-to-terrible photo performance, I might have chosen a different camera, but the video swayed me, and I'm happy I bought the Casio. The HD quality is very nice. It looks as good or better than many dedicated HD camcorders, and it's easy to use. On a tripod, especially, the results are attractive. As many have mentioned, don't look for crisp HD quality in slow-motion videos from this camera. With the slow-motion features, you're getting VHS quality at best, and the quality and image size greatly diminish as you select slower and slower video speed. For my purposes, I usually select the 30-120 option, which provide VHS video quality that you can easily switch between normal speed of 30fps to 1-fourth speed of 120fps. The camera was great for slowing down butterflies and other flying insects, and it did a good job of muffling the effects of a windy day when trying to videotape wildflowers on the prairie, making the rolling fields look mesmerizingly musical. I had a lot of fun setting up this camera on a pond's edge and capturing leaping frogs and playful dragonflies. The slow motion helped when panning the camera by hand, reducing my spazzy shakes and jitters. I don't do sports video, but that would be an interesting use as well, especially for coaches helping athletes review their performance.Be warned however, if recording an event, or shooting vacation footage, or working on any other project using HD and a variety of slow-motion video: because of video size and quality differences in each of this camera's settings, it takes a bit of editing and resizing work to combine all of that footage into a single movie. I use Vegas Studio, or Pinnacle, or Adobe After Effects and Premier, whichever is easier for a particular project. (If you're looking for an easy photo editor with great features, you couldn't go wrong with Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pro Pack.)All in all, I really liked the video features in the EX-FH100, and I'm excited to see how Casio evolves this line of cameras. Could you use this as a sole camera for amateur to prosumer level nature photography/videography, or if you're on a trip and want to carry just one camera? I think so, particularly if you have suitable image and video editing software. For this camera, I also purchased the Maximal Power DB CAS NP90 Replacement Battery, a cheap knock off that works as well as the Casio battery, and has functioned well for me over 100 hours of nature photography. It properly fits the camera, fits the charger, has an equivalent battery life. As for the camera's battery power usage, I think it's great. I get a full 6-8 hour fieldtrip of photos, HD video, and slow-motion video from a single charge, so Casio is to be commended for remarkably efficient use of resources with its camera engineering.

Casio EX-100

by rodman from on 2010-08-21
After my Canon A620 went belly-up after 5 years of very, very satisfying use, I was forced to find a new digital camera. Because of various online reviews I read, I chose the Casio EX-100.Overall, I'm not happy with this camera, especially compared to the performance I got from my Canon A620. The Casio's photos, even set at "fine" and under optimum lighting are not as clear. In dim light, the Casio's flash does not always work (when set to "auto"), which further degrades the quality of photos. In my opinion, this camera is only so/so.

There's a reason for the mediocre average rating on this one...

by O. Greene from San Francisco, CA on 2010-08-18
I purchased this as a compact camera, with an emphasis on HD video, for an upcoming road trip. I had an older Panasonic TZ3 and wanted a similarly sized camera with better video (HD) and preferably more manual control.I spent a while researching the purchase both in Amazon reviews and elsewhere. While the Amazon reviews were luke warm, the feature set seemed good, and I'd always wanted to try a Casio camera. I also paid particular attention to a DPReview comparison of "Compact Travel Zoom" cameras since it included this Casio as well as the descendant of the TZ3 the Panasonic ZS7, and many others. It seemed like a perfect reference since in theory it was comparing all the cameras in this category side-by-side: [...]In that review this Casio earns a high recommendation, with relatively minor reservations, and is one of 2 top picks. Unfortunately I have to disagree with DPReview this time, since I have now tested both the Casio (their top pick) and the Panasonic ZS7 (not among their top picks), and I much prefer the Panasonic for reasons I'll explain.First and most important is photo quality. To put it succinctly, it is really pretty mediocre. The DPReview tests showed it to be inferior at night shots, which I was ready for and didn't mind so much since I have a decent dSLR. Unfortunately I found that even the photos in daylight are not as good as I expected, or as good as the DPReview samples led me to believe. I was using the default settings (as I believe was DPR), with a mix of auto and manual controls. Yet I struggled to get anything better than mediocre (at best) shots.I found I got the best results on manual since the auto settings would often choose slower shutter speeds than were needed to freeze movement (presumably in an effort to keep ISO and noise down). What disappointed me more was, even when I got a sharp shot, there was noticeable noise reduction, even for fairly bright pictures. The remarkable clarity shown in the DPR shots vs. other cameras (for daytime scenes at least) wasn't really evident, even testing against my several generations old Panasonic TZ3. And I don't believe there is any control over noise reduction either. With RAW support being basically unusable with 15 second wait times, and anyway limited to 200ISO (useless), you really have less control than may be needed to get great results.Something else that contributed to worse than desired photo quality was the poor image stabilization. I realize this camera's zoom has a fairly long reach, especially for such a light and small camera, but I also have the ZS7 to compare it against, and I can tell you this Casio does not have a good IS system next to the ZS7. DPR's test show this as well, but again I didn't really expect it to be quite as bad. Unfortunately this affects video too, making low-light video especially jumpy (unnecessarily so, as my ZS7 videos later showed me).Additionally, while DPReview does mention the slow startup time, it was definitely more annoying than I expected. It's funny how the little things can compound issues like this, and in the case of the Casio the fact that it does not respond to the zoom lever once startup is finished unless you depress it *after* startup is complete was what made it extra annoying. Imagine this: you see a distant subject you want to capture, you press the power button and while you're waiting you turn the zoom dial so that as soon as the camera is ready, it will start zooming. Makes sense, right? But it doesn't work that way. Other cameras, including the ZS7, do.I found no really quick and easy way to tell when exactly it had finished startup, since even the display being on and splash screen gone doesn't indicate it's totally done yet. It probably sounds like I'm exaggerating the point, but I truly found that the lack of "buffering" of inputs created uncertainty that would delay actual use of the camera sometimes even beyond the 3 second startup time. And when you're trying to grab a shot of a bird or other moving subject, 3 seconds is a long, long time. So if you imagine yourself ever wanting to catch anything in motion, consider the slow startup time heavily in your decision. I know I personally did not give it enough weight when I decided on this purchase. As for video quality, in daylight it's pretty decent, no doubt. It's high definition (720p) and fairly clear. You can get relatively long recordings out of it with a large memory card. But the poor image stabilization is an issue, as I said. I also didn't think I would miss the lack of zooming that much, but I ultimately found it really was frustrating not to have it. The ZS7 does zooming while filming just fine. One nice thing about the Casio with video is it lets you zoom in on video in playback, a feature I liked a lot for HD videos on such a small screen, but it's a minor benefit. You also appear to have some manual control (shutter speed, aperture?) over videos, which I will admit seems better than the ZS7 which can sometimes overexpose bright portions of scenes with tricky lighting (think concerts, with a main performer lit with a bright spot against a dark stage - the main performer will be almost white, losing a lot of detail). The high-speed videos were a brief novelty, but as others (and DPR) have said, the low resolution and high light levels needed to capture anything definitely keep it as a novelty and ultimately seldom used. Worse than that I found the video switch would often get moved from HD to HS (high speed), so I would end up taking a low resolution, high speed shot (without audio!) of a scene I wanted to take an HD video of (with sound!). This obviously only happens when you're in a hurry and not paying attention, but the point of a point and shoot pocket camera is it's supposed to not require as much thought and planning, and ultimately I didn't find that to be the case with this Casio.I suppose in summary perhaps the DPReview did tell me most of what I needed it know: it's slow to start up, has noise reduction issues in image quality, doesn't zoom while filming video, etc. I just didn't think it would be that bad in practice, especially since they ultimately gave it high marks and a top pick. If you actually read their review and experiences, ignoring the numeric ratings and top pick, you probably wouldn't pick this camera up though, it's just that the scores throw you off. So I know I'll be sure to consider the review text a lot more heavily than scores in the future (though I certainly read the reviews in-full many times before buying in this case, and still got caught out). Also pay attention to the Amazon reviews (I usually do), and don't assume that lack of experience or different requirements can entirely explain someone's dissatisfaction. I made this mistake once and won't do it again. So as I indicated several times in this review, I ultimately went with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3.0-Inch LCD (Black), and am much happier with that. Review to come soon.

Amazing Video and high quality photos

by TrailDog from on 2010-08-11
I got this camera primarily because of the slow-motion and high resolution video. On that front I have not been disappointed. The slow motion video is awesome, I've had fun filming my dogs running and playing, analyzing my running technique, and look forward to skijor race season. I've been trying to capture our resident hummingbird on film in slow motion but haven't been lucky enough yet. The camera takes high quality still film in the basic mode, sharp, true color photos. The 'best shot' option allows you to choose from many common scene settings, including high resolution and slow motion video modes. Since I'm not exactly a techie, I appreciate this feature. The fast shutter speed action mode captures great photos of running kids and dogs, gives you the option to choose the best expression/position of the lot and erase the rest. This option works extremely well but uses up a lot of memory so isn't for everyday use when you won't be able to download pictures or recharge the battery frequently. I'm not a big fan of the zoom toggle. It's jerky and continues after you've stopped pushing on it making it hard to fine tune. A gentle touch works well, but this is the one feature I've had problems with. The slow motion video does not work well in low light or inside. Not a problem for me, as I plan to use it primarily for outdoor activities, but one caveat. Also super slow motion video is somewhat useless and has such a small pixel size it's an option I have rarely used. Overall, the colors come through very well, photos are sharp and focused. There is a learning curve to this camera, more so than the basic point and shoot, but the features I needed, including relatively fast start up time, sharp video, fast shutter speed for action shots, long lasting battery (three days and lots of video during a remote wedding) and a high powered zoom are all superb. Not much I would change about the camera. I'm excited to use it while skiing and skijoring this winter! Worth the price. Movie quality video. Good audio as well.

Great camera for a new baby

by E. Covalla from on 2010-08-04
I have been recommending this camera to all my friends with kids. This camera is so easy to use. You can switch between functions quickly. I was able to use the camera without ever having the read the instructions. The best feature is the burst shots which allow you to take a bunch of photos in a row. I had another camera that would do this but the photos would often come out blurry. This camera takes clear photos every time. The burst feature is perfect for babies that always seem to put their hands in front of their faces right when you snap a shot. The picture quality is great in bright lighting and decent enough in low lighting. The video is also really good though it eats up lots of memory.

Casio Digital Camera EXH10

by Gary Gummersall from Bryan, Tx USA on 2010-08-29
I purchased a new Casio Digital H10 Camera in May 2010. Picture quality is poor especially in rooms where there is a lot of incandescent lighting which is true of most homes and many businesses and social gathering places. This is using Casio's "Best Picture" functionality built in to the camera. The pictures come out orange and I have spent hours trying to correct them at home and at developers with limited success. I vote no buy on this camera.

Great camera so far

by Jonathan Plutchok from on 2010-08-25
I bought the EX-H10 because my wife and I had been happy with my Exilim EX-Z700, a very compact and handy camera, but always wanted more optical zoom than its 3X zoom. So when the EX-Z700 started to behave badly (after nearly 4 years), I started my shopping with a built-in bias toward Casio. The EX-H10 is thinner and lighter than its main Canon (SD-210) and Panasonic "compact super-zoom" rivals, and fits nicely in my shirt pocket, though it's still bigger and heavier than ultra-compacts like the EX-Z700. Its zoom range (10X) is a bit smaller than the Canon and Panasonic, but still quite adequate for our use, and I like its wide 24mm bottom. My decision swung finally to the Casio when I saw it was about $140 cheaper than the competing Canon at Amazon. We have had this camera for little more than a week, but so far we are quite impressed. We enjoy the big LCD viewing screen, and the operation buttons don't seem any smaller than on other cameras (I can use them quite well with my big fingers, if I'm careful). You must have a delicate touch on the zoom button to reach the desired magnification without jerkiness and lots of little adjustments, but I suppose that's the price you pay for a 10X zoom range. We already are familiar with the basic Casio operating system, but I think anyone could pick up this camera and start staking good pictures right away. This camera also has some new features that I have not had time to play with yet (including face recognition, which seems to work well). We like the new separate video recording button, which saves some fiddling when you want to film video. And while some reviews said you can't zoom while filming video, I have been able to do so. There also are a couple of separate scene-selection buttons on top, which I haven't yet learned about yet but which I think can be programmed for other purposes. The automatic Best Shot (BS) setting works great. It has captured some very nice pictures under difficult conditions such as backlighting and in dark rooms, choosing the best exposure and flash settings automatically. The flash is powerful enough to light subjects about 12 to 15 feet (4 to 5 meters) away, and perhaps even further. There is almost no shutter lag, and recycle time between pictures is quite quick (I think less than a second with my cheap, slow memory card).I gave this camera 4 stars for picture quality because I am not a professional photographer nor a camera reviewer, so I cannot compare its quality to that of other cameras (Canons tend to get great reviews for picture quality). I can only say that my wife and I are very pleased with the photos we have taken so far, including landscapes, family snapshots, party candids, and a macro closeup of a stunning butterfly.I did not assign any stars for reliability because the camera is new, and its dependability remains to be seen. Our previous Casio worked great for over three and a half years, but then it suddenly started overexposing and banding some pictures (not all) recently for unknown reasons. Does that makes it a reliable camera or an unreliable one? I don't know.Overall, I would confidently recommend this camera to my friends.

Loved it for the first 6 months

by Lou Phillips from Philly PA on 2010-08-18
After a lot of research, I chose this camera last Christmas for portability, size and stabilization feature, I also wanted the 10x zoom for setting up portraits without being in the subject's face. I'm a small woman with small hands and small pockets. The camera was great all winter indoors and for portraits. However, come summer, I realized that the lack of a viewfinder is a PITA - no way to be sure what you are shooting in bright outdoor light when the LED screen fades out, reflects like a mirror and generally is NOT useful for framing shots. Major disappointment as beach scenes are a favorite.Come July and major flaw #2 arises: the shutter now fails to open properly about 1 time in 10. No more pull it out, turn it on and shoot - gotta check that the shutter is actually open. And the problem is getting worse. ( it is probably fair to note that the available cases are too snug, making getting the camera out of a case a nuisance and using a case inconvenient; this led me to simply carry the camera in a pocket) .Casio EX-H10 12Mp Digital Camera with 10X Optical Zoom and 3.0 Inch LCDI definitely feel I overpaid @ $200+ for the system and a useful life of half a year. I'm looking for a second hand Nikon - my Coolpix 4600 gave me 3 1/2 years of reliable service and several thousand very good to excellent shots before its LCD screen died.

Video Perspective

by GeoGuy from USA on 2010-08-02
Keep in mind that I use this camera mainly for video, so I won't talk about the picture quality. You can record in HD, SD, or LP quality with this camera. The HD is really nice quality, but it chops off the top & the bottom of the screen to go from 4:3 to 16:9. It's not a big problem, but I like to get as much video into the picture as possible. It also only takes 24 frames a second, so it may not be best for high motion videos. I can faintly make out a jerkyness to it.I currently can only create SD DVD's, but there is still advantages to using HD video. You can apply a digital image stabilizer without worrying about losing the video resolution. You can even use a digital zoom of up to 3x without the video blurring. While recording in SD video, you get the full screen with 4:3, & 30 frames a second. So I usually switch between HD & SD accordingly.I have not used the LP yet. It takes very burry video at only 15 frames a second. The only advantage is if you want it to record for a very long time!On an 8GB SD card, I can take 40 minutes of HD video, 2 hours of SD video, & 7 hours of LP video. But the card has to be formatted with FAT32, which means you can only create up to 4GB's. So it will only record 20 minutes of HD video, 1 hour of SD, & 3.5 hours of LP before the camera stops recording. But you can simply hit the record button again to fill up the rest of the card. One disappointing thing is that there is no manual settings for video. It's all automatic. So if you want to take time lapse of clouds, the exposure will down when a cloud goes in front of the sun, & then back up when the sun shows. So when you speed up the video, the exposure will sometimes flash annoyingly. So I usually go for my camcorder for shots like that. But this is understandable since this camera is much more portable then my camcorder. All in all, it's a nice camera. I like it a lot.

Watch out for rec button

by dyzd from Northern CA United States on 2010-07-23
The rec button is within a few mms of the right thumb position, and it is too easy to push inadvertently when gripping the camera. This is a dealbreaker for me and I returned the camera.

Amazing camera

by 6672Martin from on 2010-08-31
This is the most amazing and funnest camera I've ever had. If you want a camera that can do it all at high speed, easy to operate and versatile this is it. I have had a lot of camera's and this is the most enjoyable yet. Every time I use it I find something else it can do. Sure it gives up a little bit on picture quality compared to some other top of the line camera's but they can't do what this camera can do. This is great action camera.

Excellent for the price!

by Vincent Moser from Strongsville, OH USA on 2010-04-19
This camera is absolutely unbeatable for the price! Photography: For photos, this camera is an excellent choice. I primarily use it to take HDR photos, and they all have turned out fantastically! The image quality is great. It's also very cool that you can take 40 pictures in a matter of a second. Video: For videos, this is a decent camera. While it doesn't offer 1080p, it still offers 720p, which will suit most of your needs (unless you're planning on using it for highly paid professions.) At 720p HD with unlimited recording, everything looks crystal clear. The only downside to this camera is that it doesn't have a mic jack, so you're stuck with the built in mic (don't get me wrong though, the built in one is of good quality!) High Speed: The high speed video quality is not the best, but as long as you stay at 210fps, you'll be fine. Anything above, and the video quality is almost unbearable. Even at only the 210fps option, everything is super-slow and looks neat. (Oh, and it's unlimited recording.) General - The Verdict: Only one big complaint - the battery life is poor. But anyways... In general, this camera has a very nice price to performance ratio. Although it may not be the best for a professional photographer, it still will suit most people's needs perfectly.

For The price it is hard to beat

by Kim Basile from on 2010-02-14
I researched Digital Cameras online for 2 weeks. If you want a camera that shoots fast (up to 40 frames a second), great zoom, great build quality, great picture quality and a decent price....Look no further. 1st I am amazed at the 40 frames per second out door shooting which is great for kids sporting events or even help with a golf swing. It will even shoot up to 15 frames a second I believe indoors when having a flash on. Tons of specialty shooting selections to choose from. It takes great video in 640 and crystal clear 720 HD video. I would recomend a 16 gig card to take care of all your HD video needs. I found myself starting to use the 640 setting more because the quality is good and uses less space. So far I have had it for 3 months and not a complaint about this camera. For $300 on Amazon it is tough to beat.

Overall, a great point and shoot camera

by Sean P. Moran from Camden, SC USA on 2010-02-01
Ok, so I begin by saying I know almost nothing about photography. I am a neophyte who started taking pictures in December 2009 (when I bought this camera). But I tell you, between the Casio Exilim EX-FH20 9.1 MP Digital Camera with 20x Optical Zoom and 3-Inch LCD (Black) and Adobe Photoshop Elements 8, there doesn't seem to be anything I cannot do, and have a lot of fun doing it.The 40 FPS bursts let me capture things I could never get one frame at a time. I've only used the video a little, so I cannot speak to it, other than what I used it for worked. The Best Shot functionality means I can take really good pictures on the proper settings and not have any idea what those settings are or mean. Additionally, I have pretty much complete control over all of the settings if I go into manual mode. I can also shoot in RAW if I want.I agree that there can be a lot of noise in the higher ISO ranges, but PSE8 can remove that. My experience with the battery life is that it's pretty darn good. I bought some rechargeable AA batteries, and always have some fresh ones in my case. You can see a lot of the images I've taken with this camera at [spmoran dot photoshop dot com]. Note that they were all run through PSE8, but for a fellow that's been taking pictures for all of six weeks, they are a testament to this camera. Enjoy!

Nice Little Camera...

by Steve Taylor from Only visiting this planet on 2010-08-13
... but not the best picture quality. I understand you only get what you pay for and this camera is very inexpensive so I can't complain too much. I found the color to rotate in hue from one picture to the next especially when indoors. The interface is excellent. The camera is very easy to operate, the controls are solid and the battery life is decent. The menus are so easy you don't even have to read the instructions (but I recommend it anyway). Tye body is solid and it's design is nice. The viewing screen is large, sharp and easy to see. The flash is powerful, so much that you'll have to back people off and use the zoom otherwise they may appear too bright and washed-out. If you're not real picky about the color phase then you'll love this camera. It was purchased for my wife and she loves it. (I don't do pink) =)

The Perfect Camera

by Lauren Rose from Indianapolis, IN on 2010-06-12
I ordered this camera on June 5th and was given an estimated delivery date of June 17th. It's June 12th and I just received my package. So a definite 5 stars go to the seller. The packaging was in perfect condition and so was the camera inside. I was actually ready to order a Canon before, and just before I went to checkout I found this Casio. I found out as much as possible about it online and decided to order it, and so far I am not at all disappointed. The picture quality is perfection, it's small and easy to use, and I got the pink one so it's pretty too. :)With all the features it has and the quality of the pictures it takes I think it's better than even an SLR camera with all those fancy lenses and all. If you're looking for high quality at a very reasonable cost this is the perfect camera for you.

The description and product were exactly what I was looking for. I had recently purchased a 10mp and it wasn't exactly what I wanted, but I love the 12mp and had a great time taking pictures of everything. Uploading and taking pictures/videos is easy and I enjoy taking pictures again. Great price and great seller!!
